WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

The ministerial Conference continued its sitting* on Friday morning at ten o’clock. The devotional exorcises wore led by the Bev. T. G. Carr. The third reading of tho station sheet was again taken, and after discussion it was resolved that its confirmation be deferred till five o’clock in the afternoon. The mixed Conference met at eleven o’clock, and was opened with prayer by tho Bev. H. B. Dewsbury. Tho roll of members was called, and the record of the former day’a proceedings read and confirmed. The balancesheet of estimated income and expenditure of tho Homo Mission and Church Extension fund was road and considered. After an animated debate it was accepted, and the thanks of the Conference were presented to the Rev. T. Buddie and F, L. Prime, Eaq., general and financial secretaries, and to the executive committee ; and it was resolved that they be reappointed for the next year. The Rev. W. Morley reported that George Gould, Esq., had presented to the fund £l5O for investment. The thanks of tho Conference wore accorded to him for his liberal gift. It was resolved cn the motion of the Bev. W. Beck —“ That it bo a recommendation to the ministerial Conference to appoint a probationer to tho Tcmuka circuit.” The report of the committee on schedule* of Church property was read and discussed. It advised that a new and simpler schedule bo drafted, but no recommendation was made as to the custodian of deeds. On tho motion of the Secretary tho report was received and adopted. The Bov. 8. Lawny made a statement respecting the condition of the Hokitika circuit, and received permission from the Conference to make a oonnootional appeal. A The balance-sheet of the widows’ and aged ministers’ fund was read by Kev. A. Beid, treasurer. It showed— Subscriptions from ministers, £365 8s ; from circuits, £6lO b> 3d ; arrears, £94 3a ; the total being £IOoJ 17s 3d transmitted to the general treasurer in Australia. The President here pronounced the benediction, and the ministerial conference resumed in order to confirm tbo third reading of the station sheet. The Conference rose at 5.30 p.m.

Tho Ministerial Conference resumed at tec o’clock on Saturday morning. It was resolved that the thanks of tho Conference bo piesented to the Eov. John Crump for his ordination charge of tho previous evening. The Conference cxprcsardits gratitude for the clear expression of saving truth, the earnest exhortations to usefulness, the counsels specially appropriate to the newly ordained ministers, therein contained, and reques'ed Mr Crump to allow the charge to bo published in the “Now Zealand Wesleyan.” The Eev. J. Berry was unanimously appointed Conference preacher for 1883. The Conference appointed tho following board of examiners for tho next year:—Eev. Alex. Reid, Maori and English Bible; Eov. W. O. Oliver, Dale and Donellan lectures; Eav. H. E. Dewsbury, Hebrew and Ecclesiastical history; Eov. H. Bull, Greek Testament ; Rev. W. J. Williams, Moulton’s history of English Bible and “ Higher Criticism Rev. J. J. Lewis, Pope and Wostcott; Rev. J. Berry, Beot and Butler ; Eov. J. H. Simmonds, Latin; Eev. Vi. B. Marten, supernatural in nature; Pev. J. Crump, Poley ; Eov. D. McEicoll, Wesley and Jackson.

A committee, consisting of the Revs. T. Buddie, J. J. Lewie, J. Berry, and H, Bull, was unpointed to examine the students ; and the Eov, W, J. Williams and H. E. Dewsbury to conduct examination of candidates for the ministry.

The following ministers were appointed as chairmen of districts :—Auckland, Reid ; Taranaki, the President; Wellington, Bavin; Nelson, Lee ; Canterbury, Morley ; Otago, Crump. It was resolved—“ That the ministers of the Hamilton and To Awamutu circuits exchange with the minister of the Cambridge circuit once in two months ; the ministers of Raglan and Cambridge exchange once a quarter ; of Taranaki and Waitara twice a quarter; and of Port Chalmers, Dunedin and Mornington once a quarter.” The mixed Conference assembled at eleven o'clock.

It was moved by tho Eev. W. Morley—- “ That for tho relief of burdened trusts, and to aid in now erections, it is expedient that stops bo at once taken for tho foundation of a Church Building and Lean Fuod, with a capital of pounds, no loan to be granted until the sum of pounds has been paid.” Ho thought that the eotablishmeat of such a fund was of tho utmost importance, and that a suitable time for its formation had now arrived. Tho Eev. J. Crump seconded tho resolution. Mr Wilson (of Auckland) thought the result aimed at a most desirable one, but it was necessary to move in the matter with great caution. Tho Rav. B. Boat stated that a gentleman in Dunedin had promised £IOOO, on condition that a certain sum was raised. The resolution was carried unanimously, and a committee of management wan formed.

Ifc -was proposed by Eov. B. Best, and carried—“ That the Conference appoint at Icait one Chinese missionary to labor among his own people wherever they are most numerous in this colony; and that the Boreign Missionary committee bo asked to grant the email amount necessary for his support.” The homo missionary deputations for the next year were appointed. The reports and balance-sheets of the supernumeraries, education and children’s funds were road by the treasurer, Eev. Alex. Eoid, and adopted. The Conference rose at one o’clock.
