ELBVBN T SIXTEEN.

On Saturday a match was played on the Association ground between an Eleven as nearly as possible representing the Interprovincial team that are to play at Dunedin on Friday next, and the next sixteen. For tho Eleven Messrs Buchanan, Million and Alack played instead of Messrs E. Bowler, J. Fowler, and Esevec, who were unable to put in an appearance. Tho remaining eight were the men chosen by tho match committee. The Eleven went in first and stuck to tho wickets all day, some rather heavy scoring coming off, as will be teen by the accompanying score. Indeed the bowling of tho Sixteen was completely collared. It is to be trusted that the Eleven will overpower tho Otago bowling in a similar manner : THE ELEVEN. First Innings. T. Buchanan, c Fenwick, b Fairhnrst ... 11 G. Castelli made the fine score of 86, Helmoro made 26, wick each 11, and Tomlinson 10, while extras totted up to no less a figure than 29. On the M. 0.0. ground Addington tried conclusions with an eleven of the M. 0.0., but got rather the worst of it, only making 60 in their first innings, eb against the M.0.0.’0 08. For tho M. 0.0. The scores were—Biecarton, Ist innings, 41 ; Sandridge, 28. For Biecarton, McGregor, 13, was the highest scorer, none of tho other side succeeding in making double figures. The bowling of McGregor and Curtain for Biecarton, and that of W. Beare and Allardyco for Sandridgo, was very good.
