THEATRE ROYAL.

There was a regular holiday house at the Theatre last night, which was full to overflawing, inoluding the inevitable baby, or riither babies, for there were several of them lifting up their voices at most inconvenient season*. The piooe chosen was Bouoioault'a sparkling comedy of "London Aseurance," with which Ohristohuroh playgoers are pretty familiar. Miss JPomeroy made her first ap«

' pearanee here in the character of Lady Gay Spanker, and gave a very fair rendering of the part. The speeches deaoriptive of the joys of hunting and the events of the stoepleohase were given with great fire and effect, and she was also very good in her scenes with Sir Haroontt. Min Lizzie Liurenoe played G-raoe Harkaway very fairly, and Miss Douglas did what little there is in the part of Pert well. MrHoskins in the part of Dazzle had one of those parts which seem to be entirely suited to him, and he played it throughout with muoh lightness and succeis. Mr Fleming made a very good Charles Courtly, and Mr Rede got through Max Harkaway creditably. Mr Hamilton's Sir Harcourt Courtly, though somewhat heavy, was well aoted, all the points being made with effeot. Mr Wallace as Meddle was exceedingly funny, eliciting roars of laughter. Mr Mowry was scarcely sufficiently gentlemanly enough as Dolly Spanker, though in other respcots he fulfilled the requirements of the part. 'The same bill will be repeated this evoning, and to-morrow " Ingomar " will be produced.
