The Newcastle miners are now agitating for higher rates of wages, in view of a rise in the price of coal, which it ia believed will take place early in 1882. The English Eleven. A cricket match between the English team and an eleven of Now South Wales was commenced here to-day. The weather was fine and the attendance good. The wicket was dead. The English went first to the wickets, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had put together 235 runs for the loss of only five wickets. Barlow was not out for 71, Selby was caught and bowled for 56, and Ulyett was bowled for 47. ADELAIDE, December 9. The Markets. Old wheat is quoted at 4s lOd ; new wheat at 4s Bd. The market is strong. Town flour, per ton, £ll 12s Gd to £ll 15s; country brands, £lO 17s 6d. Freights to the United Kingdom, from Adelaide, 52s Gd ; do., from outports, DOS.
