As the ship Pareora, bound for Auckland, was in the Downs she was obliged to slip her anchors in order to avoid collision with another vessel, by whom she would inevitably have been run down. She was towed hack to the Thames for fresh anchors. The owner of the tug baa claimed £SOOO salvage money. The Pareora has since sailed again, for Auckland. December S.
