AVON ROAD BOARD.

The Board met on October 31st. Present —The Chairman and all the members. The reports of the surveyor and foreman of works were read and considered. The clerk was instructed to write to the Superintendent of Police, stating that oomdlaints have been made that the services of the constable stationed at St. Albans are seldom available, he being engaged on town duty. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Hinohcliffe, stating that further complaints have been made re the gates across the road, and notify him that unless the same are removed before the 21st November, they will be removed by the Board. Letters were received from Mr Cochrane, requesting that the road leading to his property might be shingled. Prom the Returning Officer for St. Albans, requesting the use of the Road Board Office as polling place; request granted. From the Church Property Trustees, asking to bo supplied with estimate of cost of forming roads on R.S. 324 j, and also of the letting and supervising of of the same. The surveyor was instructed to forward estimate of cost. From Mr Lambert requesting the Board to connect the road channel with pipe drain through Mr Gould’s. The surveyor was instructed to inspect and report. The collector was instructed to issue summonses for all unpaid rates. Accounts to the amount of £l4B 10s 7d were passed and ordered to be paid.
