PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.
WELLINGTON, September 11. I understand that the result of the Cabinet meeting yesterday was practically to adopt the course in regard to Parliamentary business, which I intimated as probable. The Government will make a vigorous effort to push through the most important measures, and as mush more business as they cans and the rest will have to go to the wall. With a view of getting through as much as possible during the short time that a House can be kept together. Parliament will sit at 11 a.m. to-morrow, and most likely on several other 1 days in the week, unless the night sittings should be protracted too late for this to be practicable. A large enrolment of work, embodying both sets of estimates, may be expected to bo rushed through during the ensuing week, I hear that there is not any serionr opposition to the Railway Construction' Bill impending on the part of the “ Lords, ’* most of whom have in conversation expressed themselves favorably towards the Bill. Sir James Prendergast is to be sworn in as Acting Governor to-morrow, if the Emerald is telegraphed as having left Auckland.
