The Representation Bill

The Liberal Association met last night, and discussed the Representation Bill. The meeting passed a resolution—" That tho district from Cape Colville to To Arohu form two electorates, and that the Government proposals to include a portion in is impolitic and dl-adviaed. Tho resolutions wero sent to Sir George Qrey. Mr McOulloch, editor of the "Star," and Mr McGowan, tho Borough Councillor, were declared candidates for the Thames electorate.

NEW PLYMOUTH, August 23 The Harbor Question-

A largely attended meeting was hold at 801 l Block last night re the harbor question, when a large number of parsons from VI aitara were present. Mr Oonnett was in the chuir. Mr French, a recent arrivs.l from Canterbury, moved—" That this meeting fully endorses tho resolutions pßseed at the New Plymouth meeting, and are suprised at the action taken by the House when it. is considered that the high price of land at tho Government land sales io greatly owing to the expectation of a harbor being built there." He spoke of Timaru, and said several thousand pcun.ls had been wasted there, but that was all forgotten now that the works had proved a success, and he said that the harbor works at tho Sugar Loaves possessed advantages i ot to bo found at other places. The resolution was carried unanimously. Tfaoße present represent more than three thousand acres of land. AUCKLAND, Auguot 23. The Mail. There wss no sign of the mail steamer at ono o'clock. The Wrecked Schooner Sona. Mr Stanary has returned from tho wreck of tho Bona. He went south of the wrtcl', but found nothing. Ho then traversed from the wreck to the South Head, about ten miles parallel to Shelly beach, where ho found the body of u young man about sfl. 9;u, witli good teeth, light hair, and no whiskers. All tho flesh was off tho body except tho hands and feet. A pair of whito drawers was hanging to ono leg. He had on worsted aocka with whito tops, and half soled elastic side boots, but no othor clothing. Mr Stanary ulso found ono of the ship's hatches lying twenty yards away, high up on the beach. Five miles furthor north was found one of the vessel's coir warps, and two miles north of that a keg of butter and a mug. There was no sign of the boat anywhere. It is evident the vessel capsized at sea, ar.d the man, whose body has been found, tried to come ashore on the hatch, but was washed off in the surf, there being no other picca of wreckage within five miles of tho body. Mr Stauary dug a hole in tho sand abovo highwater and buried the body. Ho brought up portions of tho hsvv.d, and intends forwarding thorn to Auckl&nd for identification. From the description of the body found it ia neither that of Oaptuin Kenneth McKerzio or his mate, Smith. They were both men about six feet high, and the former was dark complexioned. WELLINGTON, August 23. Ihe San Francisco Mail. The English mail has just arrived at Auckland. Guilty. Walter Lee pleaded guilty to having unstamped boxeß of tobacco in his possession. He was remanded for sentence until Than* 'day.
