A telegram has been received to-day from Aden, announcing the arrival at that place of the steamship Protos, which left Melbourne for London on June 29tb. Her cargo of frozen meat and provisions is reported to bo in excellent condition. SYDNEY, August 5. The MarketsHennessy’s brandy, case, 365; bulk, quarters, 12s 3d. Kerosene, diamond, per gallon Is Bid; Devoe’s, 2s Id. Patna rice, per ton, £2l 17s 6d. Sugar Company’s No, 1, pieces, per ton, £BS. New Zealand wheat, per bushel, 4s lid; New Zealand oats, 2s 10d; maize, per 601bs, 2s 9d; tobacco, Raven’s twist, per lb, Is 4id; candles, D.R.J.’s, per lb, 7id. War Ship.
It has transpired that H.M.S. Emerald will proceed to Auckland from this port on August 31st. Smallpox. The child Wood, who has been suffering from smallpox since July 25 th, died at the quarantine station to-day. An Interesting Item. The Premier, the Hon. Sir Henry Parkes, is indisposed, and has retired to Falcon Bridge to recruit his health.
