[per press association.] AUCKLAND, August 1. A Paying ConcernAt a meeting of the Auckland Timber Company to-day the balance-sheet showed a not profit of £20,261 4s Id. A dividend of 10 per cent, was declared, leaving a balance to carry forward of £14,221 4s Id. Objects to Dip. Mr Walter Paul, a farmer, was flne-d to-day for not dipping scabby sheep a second time. WANGANUI, August 1. Robbery. A box containing £4OO in old called-in silver was stolen from tho Stormbird. Tho box, which was consigned from the Bank of Now Zealand here to the Bank in Melbourne, via Wellington, was placed on board on Saturday afternoon, and taken charge of by tho chief officer, who locked it in his cabin, and last evening found it missing. Captain Dawson was not aware tho box was on board till informed of the robbery. The silver, though old, is current and passable. There is no clue at present to the thief or the property, lIAWEKA, August 1. Advance KaweraThe first train with passengers from New Plymouth came through to Hawora to-day. About 300 passengers availed themselves of the op. portunity. The town is full of people from New Plymouth. Tho land sale is going on. TIMAEU, August 1. Crime. At Terauka at the E.M. Court to-day William Brown was charged on remand with committing an unmentionable offence, and was fully committed to take his trial at tho next sessions of tho Supremo Court at Titnaru. Three witnesses were examined, but the evidence taken is wholly unfit for publioation. DUNEDIN, August 1. Sporting. ■ Idalium, Native Oat and Hilarious go with ) Mr H.
