BRISBANE, July 13. The Steel Rail Commission.

In the Legislative Assembly last night, a debate took place on the subject of th« Commission which met in London to report upon the charges in reference to the contract for the carriage of steel rails. In the course of the discussion, Mr Griffith, leader of the Opposition, made a speech in which he acknowledged he had been mistaken in accusing the Premier (Mr Mcllwraigh) of complicity in connection with the contract, but he renewed the charges previoulsy made against Mr Ashwell, the engineer representing the Government in London, of collusion with a firm of which the Premier's brother was a member. Mr Griffith concluded by moving a motion setting forth that the contract for the carriage of tho raiU had been made subordinate to the interests of private persons. The debate continued for some time, but was at length adjourned to next sitting.
