Mr Paris returned to town last night from Fungarehu, and stated that he had not succeeded in settling the difficulty, although the Natives havo lett. The disputed ground is about half an aore in extent, and adjoins a Native reserve. The Natives refuse to cultivate any but the disputed land, whioh is on the rise of a hill, and not fit for the purpose they say they want it for. AUCKLAND, July 13. The Arson CaseIn tho charge of arson against tho Bindonp, Judge Gillies said the crime of arson was one ot the worst crimes in the calendar, and tho most diffioult of detection. He thought the evidence in this case was most oonclusive of guilt, and while desirous of giving due weight to the recommendation of the jury, he must still make a mitigated penalty exemplary. Ho eentenced the elder brother to five years, and the younger to three years, the relaxation in the latter case being because the younger brother did not seem directly interested, except as an accomplice. In Quarantine. The Governmont has issued instructions that all vessels from Sydney, including the detached Squadron, must be quarantined until twelve days have elapsed from tho time of their departure from infected ports. TIMABU, July 13. Forgery. At the Magistrate's Court thiß morning, John Robins, alias Williams, was charged with forging an order for £1 on John Stumbles, farmer, near the Cave. Mr J. Wildermoth, of the Cave Arms Hotel, cashed the same. Accused was committed for trial.
