InquestAn inquest was held this afternoon on the body of a boy named Brickloy, who was shot in a rifle gallery a few days ago, and who died this morning. Tho affair caused a great sensation here, and the owner of the gallery was severely censured in the matter. The boy was looking on at tho firing, when tho proprietor, a colored man, named Clement, playfully pointed a gun, an American pea rifle, at him. Tho hammer of tho weapon being defective, it went off, shooting the boy in the left breast. The blood spurted out, and the little fellow was conveyed to the hospital. Several attempts were made to extract the bullet, which was only the size of a pea, b»t without success. A post mortem examination revealed the fact that it had pierced the left lung, and the doctors think that it lodged in the muscles of tho back. The general impression hero is that the owner of tho gallery would be held responsible for the boy’s life, but the jury returned a verdict of “Accidental death,” with a rider deprecating the use of such weapons in public places.
