Earl Kimberley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, to her Majesty’s representatives in Australasia, relating to a series of resolutions passed by tho members of the Intercolonial Conference hold at Sydney in January last. With regard to the resolution concerning the functions of tho High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Earl Kimberley states that while fully appreciating tho high ability and earnestness displayed by Sir Arthur Gordon in maintaining Imperial jurisdiction in tho Pacific during his term of office, tho British Government, nevertheless, aro sensible of tho groat importance of tho points raised by the Conference, and will take them into serious consideration at an early date. His Lordship adds that the Admiralty has already been communicated with upon the subject.
