DESIGNATION OF THE HON. R. OLIVER.
[PBBSB ASSOCIATION TBLBGBAM ] WELLINGTON, May 19. Mr Oliver, Minister for Public Works, today pi need his resignation of his portfolio in tho Premier's hands, a recent cocurrence having rendered it necessary for him reluctantly to sever his connection with the Ministry, in order to attond to private buiiness. He retains office until his departure for Dunedin on Monday. On arrival at Dunedin he will address his constituents. DUNEDIN, May 19. The Hon. R. Oliver publishes an announcement to the electors of Dunedin that the arrangements for the conduot of his private affairs being disorganised by a recent occurrence, he has had to sever his connection with the Government as Minister for Public Works. Ho looks forward to the ploasure of addressing his constituents here shortly. It is thought likely in political circles here that Mr Hall will take the portfolio of Public Works, and that the vacant seat in the Ministry will go to a Southland member. [PEOM OUB OWN OOBBHSPONDBNT. 1 WELLINGTON, May 19. I have authority for stating that the vacancy in the Ministry created by Mr Oliver's resignation will not bo filled up before Parliament meets, and no arrangement will be made os to the temporary holding of \ tho Public Works portfolio till after Mr Hall's return from the South. It is not improbable that ho himself may hold it pending the appointment of a new Minister.
