THE TARARUA DISASTER.
The "Daily Times" states that it is behaved that an additional passenger named Kobort Whitelaw was on board the Tararua.
The Amberloy correspondent writes :—Mr James Ash worth, junr., thinks one of the bodies he saw buried was that of the Rev. J. B. Richardson. Mr Ash worth had journeyed from his residence near Leithfield to the soono of the disaster in order to identify and see buried his father who was a [passenger by the ill-fated vessel. In this ho had the mournful satisfaction of succeeding.
[PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.] DUNEDIN, May 19. The statement made that the seamen and firemen saved from the Tararua are in want of assistance is now denied. Immediately after their arrival from the wreok eaoh received a month's pay, which was then due, and also a fit-out of clothing. The Union Company supplied clothing to tho crew and- those passengers requiring it at a oost of £IOO. also board for a week to the sailors. The Union Company also distributed over £2O worth of cloth ng.
