During the voyage of the Norfolk Mr and Mrs Carden by their kindliness in taking part in the various entertainments, &0., and giving valuable help in many ways in promoting the amusement of those on board, made themselves general favorites, and the subjoined address, bearing some forty signatures, was presented to them as a slight memento. The address is as follows : —“On board s.i. Norfolk, March 24th, 1881.—Dear Mr and Mrs Carden, —We should bo sorry to allow the voyoge to come to an end without making some acknowledgement of the pleasure and gratification you have afforded us while on board the Norfolk. Wo wish to thank you sincerely for your kindness in giving entertainments for our amusement and taking part in the concerts, Ac., given on board, also for your invaluable assistance to tbe performers at our rehearsals. Wo fully recognise and appreciate your abilities on the stsgo, as well as Mrs Carden’s vocal powers and Mr Carden’s excellence in elocution. In wishing you good-bye we assure you of our earnest wishes for your success on this side of the globe, and hope we may from time to time have opportunities of hearing and seeing you under more favorable circumstances than those under which you performed on board the Norfolk.”
