SOUTHBRIDGE SCHOOL.
The annual treat in connection with this school was held in the ground adjoining the head-master’s house on Tuesday last. The children, mustering 247, formed into procession at the echoolhouse and marched to the ground. Sports of every description were indulged in during the day, and at five o’clock Mr Lucas dispersed tho little ones, after complimenting them on their behaviour, with a wish that he should see them all next year as happy and well as they all appeared to be at E resent. The good things provided were ardly as attractive as usual, principally owing to the scarcity of fruit in the district this year, however the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which certainly was the principal object aimed at. In the evening a concert was given in the Sonthbridge Town Hall by the school children, under the leadership of Mr Lucas. From first to last it was a great success, not a single bitch occuring during the evening, solos, duetts, trios, quartettes, a;-.d glees, alike going smoothly, and some of the comic duetts were exceptionally good.
