IMPORT OF MEAT INTO ENGLAND

We clip the following from an English pap :r received by the late mail; —“ There was a large increase in the arrivals of both live stock and fresh meat landed at Liverpool last week from the United States and Canada. The steamers which arrived with live stock were as follow:—The lowa, with 403 cattle; the Ontario, with 261 cattle and 122 sheep ; the "Victoria, with 222 cattle; the Palestine, with 223 cattle; the Lake Nepigon, with 140 cattle; the St. Albans, with 560 cattle ; the Helvetia, with 56 cattle ; the Istrian, with 55 cattle ; the England, with 33 cattle, and 639 cattle and 178 pigs, from the wrecked steamer Brazilian. The steamers with fresh moat were as follow: —The Arizona, with 2484 quarters of beet and 650 carcases of mutton ; the Istrian, with 1915 quarters of beef ; the Circassian, with 1168 quarters ; the Ontario, with 893 quarters of beet; the Lord Clive, with 600 quarters of beef and 100 carcasses of mutton ; the Celtic, with 600 quarters of beef; the City of Chester, with 800 quarters of beef, 150 carcasses of mutton, and 425 pigs ; the lowa, with 702 quarters of beef; the Palestine, with 579 quarters of beef; the Helvetia, with 648 quarters of beef, 203 carcases of mutton, and 200 pigs ; the England, with 496 quarters of beef, 345 carcasses of mutton, and 500 pigs; the Lake Nepigon, with 737 quarters of beef, making a total of 2008 cattle, 122 sheep, 378 pigs, 11,767 quarters of beef, 1448 carcasses of mutton, and 1125 carcasses of pigs.”
