CHRISTCHURCH FOOTBALL CLUB.

The fourteenth annual general meeting of tho above club was held at the Commercial Hotel last evening. There wan a tolerably full attendance of members, Mr W. V. Millton (captain) in the chair. The Secretary (Mr Lewie) read a report of the proceedinge of the lost year. It was approved. The balance sheet was read, and considered satisfactory. It showed the club to have a small balance in hand with which to begin tho coming season. Subscriptions had, however, not bo«n paid in a satisfactory manner. There were only twenty-seven subscriptions paid up from forty or fifty playing members and nearly sixty others, whoso names were still on the roll. Tho treasurer (Mr Stringer) suggested that the roll should bo purged of many of these latter names, and that greater diligence should bo exercised in collecting subscriptions. The balance sheet was adopted. Tho Secretary stated that a proposal had been made to shift tho playing ground from Oranmcr square to a site known as tho new cricket ground, near the Hospital. Ho had seen the spot, and thought with a little preparation it would bo quite suitable. It was probable, if they did not move, they would find the old ground unpleasantly crowded. Tho matter was left in the hands of the committee to consider and arrange.

With regard to defaulting members a conversation took place in which tho speakers, while admitting the inconvenience produced by want of punctuality, deprecated any violent change. This matter was also relegated to the committee with a recommendation to act as to purging tho roll as might seem advisable.

Tho secretary and tho treasurer intimated their intention to resign on account of other pressing business. General regret having bean expressed at thair determination, the election of officers for tho ensuing year was then proceeded with and resulted os follows — President, R. J. 8. Harman ; captain, W. V. Million ; deputy-captain, M. Lawin ; treasurer, J. B. Brans ; secretory, A. Anderson ; committee, Messrs Ootterill, Potts, Hunt, and the officers of the Club ex nfficio.

Messrs Stringer and Millton wore elected delegates to the Canterbury Rugby Union. Bight new members were proposed and duly elected.

After lonio conversation the meeting rated.
