THEATRE ROYAL.

" MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.”

This charming comedy, taken as a whole, went off very successfully last night, although from the number of persona required to act, some of the parts were not filled so efficiently ai might bo desired. Tbe part of Beatrice ■uita Miss Beaudet as if it hud been written for her, and her rendering of tho highspirited, wilful girl, half willing and half unwilling to love, was all that oou'd bo desired. Her Bandmann’s Benedick was also an excellent performance, full of fun and life. Mr Oathcart as Don Pedro, showed that he can on occasions play comedy with great effect, Tho heaviness which often mars his lighter parts was, last night, conspicuous by its absence, and he carried tho house completely with him, particularly in tho scone where with Claudio and Laonato ha narrates in Benedick’s hearing the fictitious love of Beatrice for him. Mr Reynolds’ make-up as Dogberry was very good, •a was his acting, though a good many of his “funnities” did not smack of the immortal bard, but were presumably tho creatures of his own fertile imagination. Mr Tasman played Claudio at a groat disadvantage, Mr Hall having been oast for the part. “ Don Ciesar de Baz in followed “ Much Ado About Nothing,” Herr Bandmann taking the Don and Miss Beaudet Maritana, Of this play one can only say that it was moderately successful, but the second part of a double bill generally supers. If the audience are fagged the actors must be much more so. To night, “ Hamlet ” will be given.
