NORTH CANTERBURY CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

President, Mr Alexander McDonald; vicepresidents, Messrs J. Fulton, Myles Camp- ! bell and John Cameron; hon. treasurer, Mr George Kemp ; hon. sec, L. C. Williams; piper, Mr John McKay. The seoond annual gathering of this society took plaoe yesterday at Amberley. For such a gathering, the weather was all that oould be desired. The ground seleotion committee cannot be complimented on their seleotion, for the ground was very broken, and no good time oould possibly be made in the various events. The 9.30 train from the South brought up about 300 persons, and at one time there must have been quite 800 people present. Mr H. MoLean, of the Crown Hotel, had a booth on the ground, and from the manner in whioh it was surrounded throughout the day, would have no cause for complaint. Mr Higgins of Ashley had a confectioner's booth, and seemed to be well patronised. The police, with Sergeant Scott, were in attendance, but the whole meeting passed off in suoh good order that their services were not required in any way. Walking Handicap, one mile.
