THE RISING GENERATION.

To the JSditor of tho Oleic Sir, —Undoubtedly thin is the land of the free. A waltz through the streets of the city any evening, and especially when the Theatre Royal ia open, ought to convince even the most sceptical that the title is deserved. Only on Saturday evening last I happened to pass the Theatre Royal, and there, to the astonishment of myself and many others, were about} thirty young lads ranging from ten years of age and upwards each, and all of them to appearance enjoying their pipe, and when an occasional squabble takes place in the bar room of the public house close by, they may be seen to run there, wheie they hear some of the most choice language imaginable—language that of course is cot fitting to appear, or to be repeated in any sense whatever. Mr Editor, I am aware from experience that at all times your columns are open to any correspondence that may be for the good of the public, and this is one that I believe has only to be brought under your notice to assure the public that your assistance will not be wanting through the powerful means at your command May I ask, is there no law, or have the police no power, to put a stop to those foultongued young vagabonds that frequent the theatre P At present the approaches to the theatre are a standing disgrace to the city. No respectable female can approach the theatre without being annoyed by the filthy language that is constantly used there, except when a policeman ia within hearing. If it is possible, the sooner something is done to abate the nuisance the better It will be for all parties. Your 3, £cc., PATERFAMILIAS.
