TRINITY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
The anniversary tea meeting of the above church was held in tho Congregational schoolroom on Tuesday. The tables were presided over by Mesdames Williams, Bray, Roberts, Woodham, Widdowson, Hislop, Owen, Christie, Beath, Souter, Malcolm, West, Jameson, and Misses Hart, Inglis, and Rowe. There was also a sale of fancy work by ladies of the church, and of needlework belonging to the loung Women's Christian Association. The proceeds from the sale of the latter is to be devoted to the home for young women, Montreal street. The sale was moderately successful. A public meeting was subsequently held in the church, which was prettily decorated for the occasion. The chair was taken by the Rev, H. Williams, who congratulated the meeting on the increase of church members. The treasurer, Mr John Inglis, read the statement for the year, which showed the income for that period to be £1027. Mr Edwards, the Sabbath school superintendent, gave particulars relative to his department, the scholars numbering 223, and the teachers 26. He also bore testimony to the great loss sustained by the death of Mr Greenaway, Addresses were delivered by Revs. J. Elmslie, J. B. Rioherdeon, and Mr W. Burnett, of Akaroa. Several selections of music wero effectively rendered by the choir. Mr Knight presiding at the organ. The usual votes of thanks were unanimously accorded, the proceedings being concluded by the Rev. H. Williams pronouncing the benediction.
