The " Railway Age" presents a turnra»ry showing the mileage of track actually laid down in the United States during the year 1880. These figures ore greater by 54 per cent, than that of 1879. The " Ago " anticipates that final figures will increase the Rrand total to 7500 miles, a milesee greater than hag been constructed in the United Statot or any other country in any previous year. The only State in which no work has been done is Mississippi, and the only territories are Idaho, Wyoming, and Indian, from which railways are kept, although eager to enter, and Alaska. Another year will see large additions in these terri tories. Dakota leads the country with 680 miles of new track ; Texas comes next, wnh 659; then Ohio, 525 ; New Mexico, 519 ; lowa, 445 ; Colorado, 401; Nebraska, 385 ; Illinois and Kansas. 340 each ; Arizona, 200, and the Far West States all prominent in the list.
