[beutee’s telegrams.] MELBOURNE. January 15. Wreck SaleThe wreck o£ the ship Hereford was sold to-day at auction for £7600. January 16. Yachting. The Intercolonial Yachting Regatta was held yesterday in Port Philip, and passed off successfully. There was a large attendance on the flag ship, and the weather was fine, with a good breeze. The Grand Challenge Race was over a forty-five mile course, and was won by tho Victorian yacht Janet, which came in a minute ahead of the Auckland vessel Taniwha, followed by the Secret, of *■ Sydney, which took second place on her time allowance. All the yachts sailed well, and the finish of the race was very exciting. The Third Class Matcli was won hy Zephyr. MELBOURNE, January 17Obituary. Mr A. K. Smith, M.L.A. Pedestrianism. A two days’ walking match takes place between Baker and Swan on Friday and Saturday next.
