The Australian cricketers were passengers for New Zealand by the Ringarooma, which sailed yesterday. SYDNEY, January 12. Fire. The business premises of Becket, an American importer in Barrack street, were totally destroyed by fire last night, all efforts to subdue the flames being fruitless. Becket ordinarily slept on the premises, and as he cannot now be heard of, it is feared he perished in the fire. COOKTOWN, January 11. Native Atrocities. Farther news to hand confirms the information received yesterday of the massacre of the Chinese crew of the schooner Prosperity by the natives of Lowde Island, and states that the bodies were smoke dried, and the heads sent to the various villages.
