[By Telegraph.) [Per b.b. Botorna, at the Bluff.] A portion of the Late Cable News, per the above ship, was given in our yesterday’s issue. The following are additional items: — LONDON, November 27. The prospectus of the Panama Canal scheme projected by Baron De Lesseps has been published. The proposal is to construct a navigable waterway through the Isthmus, connecting thereby tho Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The syndicate formed has undertaken to provide the necessary preliminary expenses. The Orange expedition despatched from the province of Ulster to the disturbed district at Ballinrobe in the county of Mayo has returned. Tho object of the expedition was to reap the farm of Mr Boycott, who had been threatened by the Land League. It was feared that their presence would lead to a collision with the peasantry, but owing to the precautions taken by the military, a large force of which was present, this danger was averted. Intelligence has been received of a serious outrage committed by the Native Ohief at New Calabar, a district on the Guinea coast, West Africa, near the Bight of Benin. It is reported that a largo number of natives have been butchered, and that several white traders have also fallen victims. November 29, Boycott, the victim of the Land League agitation in Ireland, has quitted his residence near Lough Marek, county Mayo, for England. Another victory has been gained by the Cape forces in Basutoland, who are now acting nnder the direction of BrigadierGeneral Clarke. A body of troops despatched against the native stronghold at Lerida, where the Basutos were mustered in force, succeeded in storming the place, and inflicting severe loss on the enemy. Triokett, the Australian oarsman, is suffering from indisposition. His health has not been good for eome days, but his illness is not considered of a serious nature, A match for £2OO aside was rowed to-day over the Thames Champion course, between Triokett of Sydney, and Wallace Boss of St. John’s, New Brunswick. The Hop Bitter Company contributes £IOOO towards the stakes in the Hanlan v Layoook race, in consequence of which Hanlan has agreed to row for £SOO.
