CHRISTCHURCH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the committee of the Ohristohuroh Horticultural Sooiety was held on Thursday last, in the rooms of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Present— Meanrs G. A. Beade (chairman), D. Nairn, P. Jones, S. Manning, J. Gantrip, T. Allen, O. Marsh, and J. Gray. A note was read from the president (Mr E. O. J. Stevens) re night of meeting, and it was resolved to hold the next meeting on the second Tuesday in the month. A protest against the awards of the judges in the extra class- for twelve pansies was considered, but could not be sustained, on acoount of the schedule being indefinite as to the number of varieties to be shown. Information was laid before the committee of the infringement of Bule 9 by a competitor at the late show. The secretary was instructed to write and inform him of the charge and ask for an explanation. Several acoounts were passed for payment and the following arrangements were made for the rose show, to be held on Tuesday, December 7th :—The *how to be held in the Congregational schoolroom ; all productions for competition to be ready for the judges not later than 11 o'clock a.m. Messrs T. H. Potts, J. Dutton, and T. Turner 'were appointed judgjps ; and D. Nairn and J. Guctrivi as stewards ; the committee to meet at half-past 3 p.m. to consider any protests that may bo entered ; the show to be. opened to the public from 1 till 9 p.m.
