The Holidays

The holiday was universally observed and the weather was splendid. The Agricultural Show was crowded with visitors. After the association dinner. Mr J. McCosh Clark, aa representative of the Sydney Exhibition committee, presented the medals and certificates to the successful claimants. The volunteer review was a great succes. Mrs Clark presented Mejar Morrow, No. 3 Company, with a belt and Volunteer Fair with the cup. The sham fight was well executed. Mounted Constable Kelly's charger reared during the fighting, knocking down Mrs J. Trenwith, inflicting a severe scalp wound aud breaking her thigh. WELLINGTON, November 9. To-day proved gloriously fine for the holiday. The Volunteer review at the Hutt watt the chief attraction, and it is estimated that 2000 spectators were present. The Friendly Society's fete was also well patronised. The Lyell's Bay Cup was won by Danebury, Angler 2, Hamlet 3. The other events were unimportant. INVEBOABGILL, November 9. To-day was observed as a general holiday. The chief attraction in the way of out-door amusements was the Friendly Societies' Sports, which were fairly attended. The proceeds are to be devoted to the Hospital. The weather during the morning was threatening, but in the afternoon and evening it was fine though cold.
