LATE CABLE NEWS.

The King of Greece, in a speeoh delivered at the opening of Chambers at Athens, referred to the manner in whioh the claims of Greeoe to the rectification of the boundary had been evaded by the Powers. The speech gave expression to the great discontent felt in Greeoe at the result of the late negotiations, and desoribed the ooeroive efforts of the Powers as in effect direoted simply to coax Turkey into conceding sufficient to pacify the Governments of England and Russia, who were ineisting on the fulfilment of the Berlin Treaty. The speech was very warlike in tone and was virtually a call to arms. The Roman Catholic hierarohy are strongly opposed to the land agitation raised throughout Ireland and to the excesses which have followed thereupon. Delaney, the Bishop of Cork, has issued a pastoral, denouncing the movement and warning the people against being led astray by the arts of political agitators. The clergy in the diocese are also using their influence in order to allay the excitement. A destructive fire has taken place in Dublin. It originated in a large store containing petroleum, and oaused a considerable amount of damage before it was extinguished. There has been an enormous increase of emigration to the United States from the United Kingdom, and especially from Ireland, and the exodus shows no signs of diminution. During the past year over half-a-million people have left this country for Amerioa. Prinoe Hohenloe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Germany, is dangerously ill. He was suffering from gastric fever, whioh has developed into typhoid. Owing to the severity of the weather whioh has prevailed of late, Trickett and Laycock have found it desirable to relinquish practising on the Thames for the present, and have started for the South of England, where they purpose ruralising for a short time. Muoh sensation has been oreated amongst rowing men by the trial of new boats made by Riley, and constructed of paper only. They appeared to be equally suitable for racing purposes, and their extreme lightness gives them an advantage over the ordinary boats, enabling the rower to attain a much higher rate of speed.
