ELLESMERE AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
At the close of the general entries on Saturday evening, the 28th October, a special meeting was held to make final arrangements for the show. Present —Mr W. D. Lawrence, President (in the chair), Messrs Lunn, Dudley, Rennie, Bishop, Lockheed, Stevens, Scott, Overton, M'Keilar, Jameson, Lewis, Jeffrey, Fay and others. The names of judges and class stewards who had consented to act were read and approved. Correspondence from railway was considered, and the guarantee for a special train from Southbridge, but not from Christchurch, was endorsed. The secretary stated that he had arranged for marquee for dairy produce, for brass band, and other matters left in his hands for carrying out. Mr Spring’s tender for booth was accepted, there being two other tenderers. It was decided that post entries be taken for the leaping match, the class stewards for light horses to take the management of same. The president was authorised to make arrangements for & paddock in which to bold the dog trial, be promised to supply hurdles from his own farms. It was decided that the special prises be presented by the president at 4.30 p.m. on the day of show. It was unanimously agreed that no games of chance be allowed on the ground, and that the police be made aebuainted with this decision. Several minor matters having been settled, the meeting adjourned.
