A meeting of the committee of the Benevolent Aid Association took place yesterday at 3 o'clock, his Worship the Mayor in the chair. ' A report from the caretaker was read, stating what application for relief had been received since last meeting, and dealing with other matters of a routine character. The chairman stated that he had received subscriptions, amounting to £lO 13s 6d, made up as follows :—Mr J. H. Barman, £1; Mr J. Holmes, £1 ; Mr Henry Matson, £1; Mr W. Hargreaves, £2, and £1 13s 6d received from sale of barley contributed by a gentleman signing himself J. A. Mr Hargreaves wrote tendering his resignation, and stating that he would forward a subscription of £3 towards the funds of the institution. Mr Ollivier submitted a draft or sketch of a programme for the proposed concert in aid of the Association, and it was pronounced to be highly satisfactory. Some discussion as to details in connection with the performance, such as price of admission, &c, was entered into, and it was decided to defer the matter for a time, and to leave the general arrangements in the hands of Mr Ollivier, who bad already done so much towards insuring a successful issue.
