AMBERLEY RACE MEETING.

A largely attended committee meeting was held at McLean's Hotel on Saturday, Mr Benn in th« chair. Mr B. G. Griffith was appointed handicapper. The ground committee were empowered to expend a sum of money in putting the couree in order. The open races on the programme of last year were adhered to, and the amounts of the stakes in all cases made the same, with the exception of the Hack Hurdle and Consolation Eaces. The list of subscriptions promised to date was considered Tery satisfactory. Mr Coleman referred to the fact that people residing between the Ashley and Waimakariri considered the "district" for the local races should have been bounded by the latter river, and! he would like to have the question reconsidered, and would move a resolution to that effect at a meeting to be called for the purpose. He would now propose—" That a meeting be held to reconsider the question." Seconded by Mr D. Brown. Mr Or. D. Greenwood would object to the question being again raised after being thoroughly discussed at a former meeting, when a resolution in favor of the Ashley being the boundary was carried. He would move an amendment to that effect. The amendment was seoondedby Mr MoNaught, who considered it now too late to make any alteration. The amendment i was negatived. A meeting of subscribers | will, therefore, be held, as notified in another column.
