GOOD TEMPLARY.
The quarterly public meeting of the Hope of Christchurch Lodge was held last night in the Templar Hall, Worcester street. The attendance was excellent, the room being quite full. A capital programme had been prepared, including several quartettes, trios, and songs, which were very well rendered. An instructive address was delivered by Dr Bussell, who touched at some length on the various points of the Temperance question. He urged the members of the order to ’live strictly up to their principles, and not to bo so lax as it was reported some of them were. Ho had heard of some who deemed it in accordance with their principles to take brandy-sauce with plum pudding. He himself could not see the difference between eating and drinking alcohol. Ho alluded to the spreading influence of the Temperance movement, and hoped the day was not far distant when every Christian minister would deem it his duty to abstain himself, and to lead his congregation into the paths of total abstinence. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Dr, Bussell for his address, and the proceedings terminated with the National Anthem, sung by the choir.
