Paramena made play with Marie Stuart in close attendance. Passing the stand the first time round Mavis led in advance of Paramena, the remainder, with the exception of the favorite, who was still acting as whipperin, being all in a cluster. At the stables Paramena deprived Mavis of the lead, and they ran thus until the sheds wore reached, when Mulgrew brought Piseatorious up, who wont through his horses like a shot, and assumed the lead. Rounding the bend the favorite drew clean away, winning in a canter by about three lengths. Paramena was second, two lengths ahead of Mavis. Maiden Plate, of 50 sovs. Mr Lyon’s Loeh Lomond 1 Mr Farmer’s Florence 2 Mr Douglas’s Venture 3 Flying Buck, Addition, Firefly and Laverock also ran. Florence was first off, but at the railway turn Loch Lomond took command, when Florence made an effort, but failed to get on terms with the favorite. Mr Lyon’s horse won easily by two lengths. Flying Handicap, of 60 sovs. Mr Hislop’s Moanatiri t Mr Farmer’s Paramena t Mr Walters’ Libeller 0 Marie Stuart, Never Miss atd Omega also started. Betting—3 to lon Libeller, 4to 1 against Paramena, 5 to 1 against Marie Stuart, 5 to 1 againt Omega, 10 to 1 against Moanatiri. Omega was first off, but soon dropped in the rear, leaving Libeller in front, with Paramena and Moanatiri close up. Never Miss, who got off badly was last. At the railway turn Paramena and Moanatiri closed with the the leader, who was soon after beaten, and the pair ran a slashing race home, terminating in a dead heat. In the deciding heat Paramena msde the running for halt a mile, whoa Moanatiri passed, and coming away won in a cantor by two lengths.
