CHURCH OF ENGLAND TEMPERANCE SOCIETY.
A public meeting was hold in the Town Hall, Amberley, on Tuesday craning, haring for its purpose the formation of a branch of the above society in the district. On the platform wore Rev. Q-. Gould (in the chair), Archdeacon Dudley, Hun. H. B. Gresson, Revs. Pasooe, Harris, Montgomery, Dr. Russell and Mr A, Broadfoot. The meeting was opened with prayer by Archdeacon Dudley. After the above-named gentlemen had addressed the meeting, the following resolutions were carried :—“That a branch of the Church of England Temperance Society be established in the district.” “ That the Church Work Society committee be the executive committee of the Temperance Society.” “ That a general meeting of the society be held monthly, time and place to be decided by the committee.” After singing a hymn, the benediction was pronounced by Archdeacon Dudley, and the meeting, which was by no means large, closed.
