EAST CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The above committee held a special meeting lust evening to consider certain matters in connection with the staff of the Main School. These were fully discussed and dealt with. It was decided to bring the compulsory clauses of the Education Act into force at once, some glaring cases of neglect on the part of parents having como under the notice of momtea* of the o immittee. A letter from the Education Board, urging uniformity of action in the matter of the time and duration of the holidays to be given in the Christchurch schools, was read, and action was deferred till the next regular meeting of the committee. It was decided to remind the Board of a request made by the committee, namely, that it would erect Bingsland into a separate district. After attending to some other matters of detail, and passmg the usual monthly payments, the meeting adjourned.
