CHRISTCHURCH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the above Society was held last evening in the rooms of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Present— Messrs O. A. Beade (chairman), M. Murphy, F. Jones, H. Crooks, J. Guntrip, J. Gray. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the advisability of putting off the next monthly meeting, at which prizes for auriculas, hardy primulas, hyacinths, &c., are offered, but it was decided to adhere to the original date, September 30tb, in the Congregational schoolroom. Is was resolved to request Mr T. Turner to act ns one of the judges in the place of Mr Beade, and Mr J. Dutton was added to the certificate committee. With respect to Messrs Duncan and Son’s protest, made at the Autumn Show, it was decided that the protest be disallowed, the replies received upholding the decision of the judges. Mr Murphy exhibited a fine specimen of the beautiful fern Hymenophyllum crispatum.
