WESLEYAN CHURCH, ASHBURTON.
The usual quarterly meeting of the office-bearers of the Wesleyan Church, Ashburton, was held last Wednesday evening, at which Mr H. M. Jones read a statement showing the total receipts to be €137 7s, including tho grant of £45 from the Home Mission fund. Last quarter the liabilities of the circuit amounted to £36 9s, and after paying all that, together with current expenses, and handing £2O 8s lid to tho trust fund ,the circuit began tho new quarter free from debt. In compliance with a general request, tho Rev. Mr Keall promised to remain another year in the district, provided no objections were raised by the Conference. It was decided to make tho following recommendations to the district meeting :—l. That the term for which ministers may remain in a circuit be extended from three tofivo years. 2. That the removal expans«s of ministers be taken from tho contingent fund. After other minor mutters in connection with the affairs of the church hud been discussed, the proceedings terminated.
