BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.

A meeting of the South Waimakariri Board of Conservators took place yesterday (September 14th). Present—Messrs E,. J. S. Harman (chairman), Tosswill and his Worship the Mayor of Christchurch. The chairman reported that the Crown Grants for the reserves held by the Board had been sent to Wellington for signature. The new Act under which districts were to be proclaimed, and members elected had passed. The Mayor of Christchurch -advocated the elective principle being carried out, and as a new Board would shortly come into office, the present one should not deal with the reserves. Mr Tosswill endorsed the remarks of the Mayor. The chairman said that the reserves were in such a position as that they could be at once dealt with by the new Board when the Crown Grants were completed. The chairman was requested to ascertain by telegraph if the Crown Grants had yet been signed. The question of the debentures was remitted to the chairman to deal with. The chairman reported that in consequence of the very heavy nor'-west gale which occurred recently, ho bad had to sanction the obtaining of two hundred casks of cement to carry on works for the security of the bonk known as Henderson’s. The action taken by the chair.man was endorsed by the Board. The usual report of the overseer was read and approved. After passing a number of accounts, the Board adjourned.
