HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of tho committee of the Ohristchurch Horticultural Society was held last evening, in the rooms of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Present Messrs H. R. Webb (chairman), H. Crooks, D. Nairn, J. Gruntrip, T. Allen, F. Jones, J. Gray, and the secretary. The following arrangements were made for the next monthly meeting, to be held on September 30th, at which prizes are offered for auriculas, hardy primulas, cyclamens, &o. Messrs Murphy, Jones, and secretary to engage a room in which to hold the meeting, and Messrs H. R. Webb and G. A. Reade to make the awards. A reply through the " Journal of Horticulture " re the question of variegated geraniums was read, but the settlement of the question by the committee was deferred till the next meeting. Professor Bickerton exhibited a variety of echiverea bearing a fine spike of yellow flowers, and also a bloom of an extra largo variety of cyclamen peraioum.
