Yery favorable reports have been received from the Temora goldfield. BRISBANE, July 20. The Premier in Hot Water. A large public meeting, held last night, carried a resolution condemning the proposed new direct mail contract between England and Queensland via Torres Straits, which the Premier arranged for whilst in England. The meeting also passed a vote of want of confidence in the Ministry, in consequence of its having opposed the motion recently carried in the Legislative Assembly for the appointment of a committee to inquire into the charges brought against the Premier and the Colonial Secretary in Mr Hemmant’s petition to the House.
