Sudden Death' A groat sensation has been caused by the sudden death of Mr Grant, the auctioneer, ■who was discovered at Mrs Skeat’s house, in Vincent street, this morning, by a carpenter coming to repair the sewing machine, lying across a chair quite dead. It appears that Mr Grant went there last night in a state of intoxication, and Mrs Skeat, finding it impossible to gat him away, wont to bod with her children. NAPIER, July 20. An Occular Deception. A scientific examination of the so-called gold-bearing quartz from Te Aute shows it contains no gold. The metalic appearance is duo to the refraction of light through the fractured portion of the surface. A company is being floated to work six acres of ground at Kaneiri. OAMABTJ, July 19. Highway Robbery. A man named John Locke was robbed of his watch, chain and some money last night by two men. He was proceeding home when the men came behind him, and pulling him to the ground, robbed him of the abovementioned articles.
