MASONIC.
An era in the history of Masonry in Lyttelton waa marked last night by the institution there of a Mark Masters’ Lodge, to be worked in connection with the Craft Lodge hailing under the Scotch Constitution. Lyttelton was the cradle of Masonry in tins province, the mother lodge of Canterbury—the Unanimity—having been founded there about 1853. The work of constitution of the lodge waa carried out hy the officers and companions of the Canterbury Kilwinning Boyal Arch Chapter, 136, S.O. Amongst the officers taking part in the ceremony were :—Companions : S. P. Craig, Z; T. Stapleton, P.Z. ; A. E. Kirk, P.Z. j Smith, H. ; Lucas, J. ; Ford, First Soj. ; Simpson, Sandatein, Hall, Milsom, and there waa also a good muster of companions. The institution was very impressively carried out by Companion T. Stapleton, P.Z., and the Master-elect of the new ledge was then duly installed. Pro. Eey. J. Hill was chosen as the first Master. The visiting officers and companions were hospitably entertained by their Lyttelton brethren and returned hy the late train to town.
