The Legislative Assembly has voted £ISOO per annum for a Minister of Public Instruotion. H.M.S. Ealeigh brings a large number of men to relieve the Wolverine and other ships on the Australian station. It is intended to send another geological surveyor to examine the Cobar district between Lachlan and Bogan, which is believed to bo very rich in gold, silver, copper, and tin. VICTORIA. A statement has been made that four armed men were seen in the Wahguntgau district, who are supposed to be the Kellys. The French war ship Rhin has arrived. Messrs Joseph Jones, Vale and Mason were the principal offenders in the matter of personalities in the Assembly on June 17th. The former is a persistent opponent of the payment of members, and his connection with the Registration Society gives great offence to the Opposition. Mr Vale, in alluding to Mr Jones, called him a penniless braggart and trained beggar of billets, without which ho would have to go into the benevolent asylum or else run away to America and leave his wife and family to the charity of the country. Mr Jones retorted on Mr Vale about his being hired to defend roguee. Then Mr Mason’s insult to the ladies was referred to, and he retorted that he did not visit the back alums of tho city at early morning. This was the style of the debate, when it was found that no progress could bo made with tho Payment of Members Bill.
