A deputation from Wanganui waited on the Colonial Secretary in reference to an application made by certain districts in the South Island to the effect that the whole of the North Island might be proclaimed an infected cattle district, and tho removal of cattle from tho North to the South Island wholly prohibited an account of the outbreak of pleuro-pneu-monia in Auckland. The deputation repreaonted the hardship and unfairness of ihe course which the Government had been urged to take in its effect upon Wanganui, which was fully 300 miles distant from the locality where the disease had appeared, and moreover had a large trade in stock with the West Coast of the South Island, which would be destroyed by the prohibition asked for.
