QuarantinedThe barque Truee Buienden, which has arrived from Java with several serious cases of fever on board, has been placed in quarantine. SYDNEY, May 8. Sunday lectures. A crowded meeting was held last night, and adopted resolutions denouncing certain clauses in the new Licensing Bill, which are calculated to suppress Sunday lectures. The Hon. Bowie Wilson was in the chair, and the Hon. David Buchanan, M.L.A., Mr Charles Bright, the free-thought lecturer, and the Rev. J. Bowie, spoke at the meeting. Payment of CostsMr G. R. Dibbs, the defendant in the great slander case, has been arrested, and his furniture attached for payment of Mr Shepherd’s costs. Meat Freezing Companiesi A meeting has been held to initiate a meat freezing company with a capital of £IOO,OOO. BRISBANE, May 8. A meeting was hold here yesterday for the purpose of starting a meat freezing company, towards which £50,000 have already been subscribed.
