[eeutee’s telegeams.] LONDON, May 7. The Markets. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 19,500,000 quarters Best Australian beef tallow, 32s 6d; best mutton tallow, 345. Copra, £l7 per ton. At the wool sales to-day 8500 bales were offered, making a total of 164,400 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the market has a slightly improved tendency. Hides had a fair demand for most descriptions. The Board of Trade returns of im ports and exports for the last month show a decided' improvement. A New Meat Importation Company. The importation of moat is seriously occupying public attention, a prospectus having been issued for the establishment of a colonial fresh meat company, with a capital of £200,000, half of which has already been issued. It is expected that the company will commence operations immediately. May S. Tho assassin of Oommeroff, late attache to the Russian Embassy, has been sentenced to death.
