HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the committee of the Christchurch Horticultural Sooiety was held last evening in the rooms of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The president, Mr E. C. J. Stevens, in the chair. There were also present— Messrs F. Jones, S. Manning, J. Guntrip, A. Duncan, C. Marsh, T. Allen, H. Crooks, J. Gray, and the secretary. A number of accounts were passed for payment The pro tests of Messrs J. Hepworth and Duncan and Bon, were considered, and the secretary was instructed to request the former to state more specifically the exhibits he takes exception to, and with respect to the latter it was resolved to state the case to some English authorities for their decision. It was resolved to hold the show of chrysanthemums and out-door grapes in tho Congregational schoolroom, if available, on Tuesday, April 27th, and to open the same from 3 to D p.m. Messrs Reade, Ivory, and Turner were appointed judges, and Mr H. Crooks consented to act as Bteward on that occasion. Resolved—" That tho treasurer be authorised to pay the prize I moneys for the past season, aud that a special meeting be called for that purpose."
